Fluidity Talks

Growing up in a suburban town, I’ve always had the privilege of relaxing and getting away from the loud city noises. In my current room the trees are directly outside my window, where pretty flowers bloom and birds wake me up as soon as the sun rises. I have much gratitude for this lifestyle, because if I feel uninspired all I have to do is take a walk outside. So as you’d imagine, I spend a lot of time in/outside of my bedroom, dreaming and letting the clouds take me wherever they drift away to. Sometimes I drift so far away with the clouds and get lost, staying there for days. Imagine me, in front of my house; with my notebook, a cold bottle of water, fruit, some palo santo and my feet buried in the soil. I’m taking in the melodic sounds of nature, and I write, and write, and write, and write until everything that came to mind is written down on that piece of paper.

I’ve recently released a body of music and I named it Fluidity. Remember how I told you I write whatever comes to mind on those sheets of paper? That sequence happened a lot on this EP. A couple months prior to the release I was stressing out because I was so unsure on what to name it. Through writing miscellaneous thoughts, all of the songs sounded different, and there was no immediate theme in the lyrics or melodies. I’d written these songs in different stages of life, in different dream states of my life; so how could I piece them together and decide on one name?

“As a sagittarius sun with a gemini moon, there are numerous sides of myself that may not correlate with each other, but combine to make me the whole that I am. This definitely shows in my music, so I decided to name the EP Fluidity.”

For example, my song “LAX” is a super western, biker, cowgirl-esque tune, and I’m talking about riding this motorcycle into the desert with my hair free flowing in the breeze. I love this song because it represents my wild side. On the other end, I have “Blu”, a song about being disconnected/far away from a love that’s close to your heart. It’s a slow and serene song. Blu represents the more reminiscent and empathetic side of myself. Then you’ve got “Purple Haze” and “Secret Sauce”, songs that I wrote about in a daze or during a daydream, left for the listener to interpret as they hear it. Those represent the more whimsical, but relaxed parts of myself. As a sagittarius sun with a gemini moon, there are numerous sides of myself that may not correlate with each other, but combine to make me the whole that I am. This definitely shows in my music, so I decided to name the EP Fluidity. To me Fluidity is free flowing, free spirited, open; not fixed, with no boundaries.

“The present is the ultimate gift to turn our lives around for the better. I aim to inspire others to live in their truths and chase their happiness, through leading by example and doing that in my own life.”

It was super exciting to release Fluidity because it’s a representation of myself, as I bloom and grow into my highest divine being. Being an independent artist made it a bit more difficult to do, because it is a complete investment in myself. Money always comes into play, and since it is scarce it was important for me to get creative with studio time, music videos, and promotion tactics. Since I’ve committed my life to my own freedom and happiness, I vowed to never go back to a 9-5 job. For me it is draining and gets in the way of the way I’d like to live my life. I see how it affects loved ones around me and the way it can trap you into the matrix. Luckily I have the privilege of living at home with my mom while finding other ways to make money (so grateful because it allows me to get away from being a slave to the system). My belief and trust in myself, my talents; and the universe’s guidance is so strong that I know this journey will lead to a greater abundance. Circling back; I love being an independent artist (although it can be difficult at times), because I have unlimited access to myself (we all do!). I’m free to create anything I want, at anytime, at any place, and for me it doesn’t get any better than that.

I strongly feel that my calling, my purpose on earth is to be a physical and spiritual representation of liberation through music, art, and dance – no matter what may have occurred in the past. The present is the ultimate gift to turn our lives around for the better. I aim to inspire others to live in their truths and chase their happiness, through leading by example and doing that in my own life. We all have power and control over our dreams, all we have to do is manifest it by chasing them. God will do the rest.
